It's not about what they make you feel, it's about what they make you not feel. For me, I had anguish about confronting my life. Work, social interaction, and generally engaging with life was stressful and miserable, even when I thought what I was doing things I should be doing. I had these miserable weeks, where dying in bed seemed preferable to even standing up. Pills took away that anguish. That felt like a good thing. It was easier to get up and keep on plugging away at the same old shit.
